Andrew Glover Tenor

Andrew Glover, now resident in Brussels after a successful period residing in London, was born in New Zealand and studied drama, dance and singing at the Unitec School of Performing and Screen Arts.  He made his operatic debut in Il barbiere di Siviglia with New Zealand Opera with whom he has since sung many roles.  

As a recipient of the Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artist Awarded in New Zealand he continued his studies with a full scholarship at the Australian Opera Studio. He went on to graduate with Honours and the Dux award for excellence.

Andrew Glover has sung with the Tokyo New Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Cardiff Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Perth Orchestra,  Tonbridge Philharmonic Orchestra, Auckland Chamber Orchestra, and the Little Baroque Company.  His concert repertoire includes Messiah, Elijah, Haydn Creation, Mozart Requiem, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle, and Stabat Mater and Carmina Burana.  He has performed music by Sondheim in an award winning concert for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Andrew Glover’s repertoire includes Ferrando Cosi fan tutte, Grimoaldo Rodelinda, Fernando Il furioso, Ramiro La cenerentola, Giovanni D’Aire L’Assedio di Calais, Monsieur Triquet Eugene Onegin, RemendadoCarmen, Bardolfo Falstaff,  Ein junger Diener Elektra, The Cock and The Fox Renard (Stravinsky), Bastien Bastien and Bastienne (Mozart), Monostatos Die Zauberflöte, Ismaele and Abdallo Nabucco, Tanzmeister and Scaramuccio Ariadne auf Naxos, and Frantz, Cochenille, Andres, Pitichinaccio Les Contes d’Hoffmann.

His roles with English Touring Opera have included Monsieur Triquet Eugene Onegin, Gherardo Gianni Schicchi, and Tinca Il Tabarro.  He performed Remendado Carmen at Opera Holland Park and was invited back the following season to sing Don Curzio and Don Basilio Le nozze di Figaro.  Andrew Glover has also appeared as Vašek The Bartered Bride and Beppe  Pagliacci with Opera New Zealand.  

Andrew Glover performed Giovanni D’Aire L’assedio di Calais for English Touring Opera and Beppe  Pagliacci for Opera Holland Park.  He appeared as Lysander A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Opera North and Bergerac in Vert Vert (Offenbach) for Garsington Opera.

Among Andrew Glover’s acting credits are Lysander, DemetriusOberon and Starveling Midsummer Night’s Dream, Banquo Macbeth, Orlando As you Like It Teiresias in Sophocles Oedipus Rex, various roles in Under Milkwood. Actor The Lower Depths, Doctor Woyzeck.  He has also appeared in music theatre.
